This sculptural piece is made from a discarded washing machine. Several segments have been painted fluorescent pink and gold, and on the inside of the drum a UV bulb has been installed, which lights up several fluorescent drawings. This work is the result of some research around the history of capitalism, including Silvia Federici’s ‘
Caliban and the Witch. The illustrations on the inside of the drum show nameless women floating in the darkness, alluding to this hidden history. The washing machine itself is a reference to the evolution of domestic work through time, as well as planned obsolescence.
Esta pieza escultórica está hecha de una lavadora desechada. Varios segmentos se han pintado de rosado fluorescente y dorado, y en el interior del tambor se ha instalado una bombilla UV, que ilumina varios dibujos fluorescentes. Este trabajo es el una investigación en torno a la historia del capitalismo, incluyendo el texto Calibán y la bruja de Silvia Federici. Las ilustraciones en el interior del tambor muestran a mujeres anónimas flotando en la oscuridad, aludiendo a esta historia oculta. La propia lavadora es una referencia a la evolución del trabajo doméstico a través del tiempo, así como a la obsolescencia planificada.
